Direct and Indirect messages in ads (Dr. Pepper)

dr pepper evolution ad

This is an ad for the soda Dr. Pepper using a stereotypical influence. This ad consists of an ape then a human with the ape posture leaning towards the drink ending with a man drinking the Dr. Pepper using the heading ‘Evolution of Flavor’. This connects to the evolution of man. The fact that this drink is shown with importance in this worldwide known theory (therefore making it an important element) suggests that it is known everywhere. The point that they are trying to prove is that this drink is important to this theory. The direct message they are giving is to buy the product; you’re not human if you don’t. You are left behind time and civilization. The indirect message in the other hand is that if you don’t buy this product, you will not fit in society. Wanting to fit into society by doing, eating or wearing certain things are stereotypical and this ad is an example. They used an indirect message which captures your attention in a ‘wanting to fit in society’ type of way.

The Perfect Candy

M&Ms are the best candy because they are not sticky. Now days a lot of people have braces and since M&Ms aren’t sticky you are allowed to eat them without the sweet getting stuck to them. Even if you don’t have braces, other candy can get stuck to your mouth and teeth making M&Ms the perfect choice.

As well, this magnificent candy is made with real chocolate and not like other artificial candies. This sweet is pure and not simply made out of sugar, color and syrups. Chocolate is made from a plant called cocoa and plant foods are good foods.

What is a food without it being yummy therefore making you happy! It’s been scientifically proven that chocolate makes a smile to show up on your face. You’ll be as happy as your graduation day. When your sad you have something to rely on; M&Ms!

Advocates of Starbursts suggest that they are the best candy because they get a good value for money. This is not accurate because there are more M&Ms in the small packages than Starbursts. Besides, the convenient small packages in the large M&Ms package help to share with friends. What’s the point of enjoying candy if you can’t share it with the next thing that makes you happy; your friends and family? Also, the wrapping of the candy individually is bad for the environment. Things like this cause deforestation, the destroying of oxygen, animals’ habitat and animals’ food. Why would you do that to yourself, the poor animals or your family? The ending value is better economically and ecologically for the best candy M&Ms!

Save the Monarch Butterflies

Have you ever thought of how enchanting butterflies make the world? They make nature much more beautiful and it is one of the main symbols of spring. I personally went to a butterfly house when I was 8 in Peru and it was absolutely breathtaking. Even though the monarch butterfly is the butterfly we all relate to the most, it is endangered. The majestic creature’s home and food is milkweed but it is torn down by mindless apathetic criminals. We have to do something about it! There has been a 59% decrease of population from 2011-2012 because of a loss of food and extreme weather. The poor little larvae, eggs and pupae dry like an old man in these conditions. We have to help because our children won’t be able to see these stunning animals and it will be our fault. Don’t regret it, make a change. Help, help, help.

Advertising

This advert is for a post office company called Australia post. It is a man written with words hugging a woman which symbolizes that you can touch a person by writing a letter and sending it by Australia post. The intended audience in this ad is people of the age who understand and appreciate the fact that someone wrote a letter which would probably be people over the age of 18. The speaker is the narrator who is trying to persuade you to send various letters with their company to communicate with people and show them that you love them by sending sentimental words which will touch their heart since you aren't able to see them or hug them. They are using Pathos to convince you to send your letters through their company because they are telling you to let someone know that you care about them by sending them a letter that touches their heart with your words. They will appreciate it.

"If you really want to touch someone, send them a letter."
